Here are our favourite cocktail recipes, which any aspiring mixologist should know.
Martini (serves 1)
Ingredients4-6 crushed ice cubes3 measures of gin (preferably from Raisthorpe Manor!)1 teaspoon of dry vermouth1 green olive to decorate
First, place the crushed ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. The pour the gin and vermouth over the ice cubes. Shake until well frosted and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Decorate with the olive and serve immediately.
Margarita (serves 1)
Ingredients4-6 crushed ice cubes2 lime wedges3 measures of tequilacoarse salt1 measure of triple sec or cointreau2 measures lime juice
Bellini (serves 1)
Ingredients1 lemon wedgecaster sugar1 measure of peach juice3 measures of champagne, chilled
First, rub the rim of a chilled champagne flute with the lemon wedge, and thendip the rim of the flute into a plate of caster sugar. Pour the peach juice into the flute. Top up with the champagne, and servce immediately.
Bloody Mary (serves 1)
Ingredients4-6 cushed ice cubesdash of tabasco saucedash of worcestershire sauce2 measures of vodka6 measures of tomato juicejuice of half a lemonpinch of celery saltpinch of cayenne peppercelery stick and lemon to decorate
First, put the crushed ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. Dash the tabasco sauceand worcestershire sauce over the ice. Then add the vodka and tomato juice. Add the lemon juice and shake vigorously until well frosted. Finally, strain into a tall, chilled glass, add the celery, salt and cayenne pepper. Decorate with the celery stick and lemon slice.
Manhattan (serves 1)
Ingredients4-6 cushed ice cubesdash of Angostura bitters1 measure of sweet vermouth1 cocktail cherry for decoration
