Here are our favourite cocktail recipes, which any aspiring mixologist should know.
Martini (serves 1)
Ingredients
4-6 crushed ice cubes
3 measures of gin (preferably from Raisthorpe Manor!)
1 teaspoon of dry vermouth
1 green olive to decorate
First, place the crushed ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. The pour the gin and vermouth over the ice cubes. Shake until well frosted and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Decorate with the olive and serve immediately.
Margarita (serves 1)
Ingredients
4-6 crushed ice cubes
2 lime wedges
3 measures of tequila
coarse salt
1 measure of triple sec or cointreau
2 measures lime juice
Bellini (serves 1)
Ingredients
1 lemon wedge
caster sugar
1 measure of peach juice
3 measures of champagne, chilled
First, rub the rim of a chilled champagne flute with the lemon wedge, and thendip the rim of the flute into a plate of caster sugar.
Pour the peach juice into the flute. Top up with the champagne, and servce immediately.
Bloody Mary (serves 1)
Ingredients
4-6 cushed ice cubes
dash of tabasco sauce
dash of worcestershire sauce
2 measures of vodka
6 measures of tomato juice
juice of half a lemon
pinch of celery salt
pinch of cayenne pepper
celery stick and lemon to decorate
First, put the crushed ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. Dash the tabasco sauce
and worcestershire sauce over the ice. Then add the vodka and tomato juice. Add the lemon juice and shake vigorously until well frosted. Finally, strain into a tall, chilled glass, add the celery, salt and cayenne pepper. Decorate with the celery stick and lemon slice.
Manhattan (serves 1)
Ingredients
4-6 cushed ice cubes
dash of Angostura bitters
1 measure of sweet vermouth
1 cocktail cherry for decoration
